Types of Classroom Modeling Clay
You can find a wide range of clay for all age levels and projects. We have many different types of art clay for sale online:
- Air-dry clay: Air-dry clay is typically water-based and doesn't require a kiln for curing or any special tools, making it much more accessible for many classrooms.
- Modeling clay: Modeling clay may or may not harden after shaping, but it's a great way to keep hands busy and help kids learn the joys of sculpting at any age. In this category, you can find products such as Play-Doh® and Model Magic®, along with clay from AMACO® and Prang®.
- Sculpey®: Scupley® clay is vibrant and versatile. This oven-bake clay allows you to easily turn students' clay creations into something more permanent.

Art Clay Glazes and Tools
Clay is an exceptional art medium, but glazes, tools and other supplies can truly help children and art students take their work to the next level.
Two handy additions to clay artwork include glazes and underglazes. Both are used to decorate pottery, but they work in subtly different ways. Underglazes are almost exclusively used for decor, meaning they won't seal the surface from stains but do add gorgeous colors to a piece. As the name suggests, they're commonly used underneath a glaze. Glazes, on the other hand, add a shiny, glassy layer to the clay and provide protection.
