Essential Drawing Accessories for Refining Art
Kurtz Bros. provides the essential drawing tools students need to refine their artwork and practice professional techniques. Blending stumps allow learners to softly smudge graphite or charcoal for realistic shading, while pencil sharpeners help maintain fine points. Pencil erasers also give students a gentle way to lift pigment, create highlights and correct mistakes while helping protect their sketch paper.
Foundational Techniques With Sketching Pencils
With the right pencil in hand, students can see how small changes in pressure, grade and technique affect the finished image. Use specialty drawing pencils to inspire creativity and explore:
Shading and value: Softer B-grade and ebony pencils are ideal for practicing tonal range. They allow students to experiment with light and shadow to create depth and smooth gradients in their still-life drawings.
Precision and line work: Hard H-grade sketching pencils deliver crisp, clean lines for architectural drafting, cross-hatching and detailed contouring.
Contrast and texture: Combining graphite with charcoal pencils allows students to push their contrast even further, laying down deep, matte blacks to make their lighter pencil strokes pop off the page.
Mixed media and blending: Watercolor sketch sets and pastel pencils are a great way to introduce advanced techniques, encouraging learners to combine dry and wet media in exploratory projects.
